In reviewing Mary Powell Bunker's 1895 "Long Island Genealogies" which
was reprinted in the 1980s and is an LDS microfilm I am impressed with
her humility, and with her honesty. 19c compilers like Mrs. Bunker
and William Stillwell Carman, IMHO, do not appear to make elaborate
speculations that are characteristic of mid-20c. researchers. It is
also refreshing not to see computer-software-generated sentences and
dates, and sequences of numbers, at least to me.
