There is a lot of Carman research. And a lot of controversy.
And a lot of questions -- which, for me makes it interesting.
I believe these are the facts for which there are some sources:
1. John Carman joined the Roxbury Church in 1631.
2. Florence Carman joined a the Roxbury church a year later.
3. The birth of John, Abigail and Caleb are recorded in Trask's
copy of Eliot's records of the Roxbury Church.
4. John Carman took part in 1643 Treaty with Indian Tribes on Long Island
for Hempstead Plains, part of the Dutch Colony of New Netherlands.
5. Florence and children John, Abigail, Joshua, and Caleb live in
Hempstead.
There is controversy about whether there are two John Carmans, the date of
arrival, whether the family lived in Lynn or Roxbury, where John Carman
came from, when he was actually born, what his profession was.
I believe there is no controversy about the marriages of Abigail to Coe or
Abigail to Helstead -- but I do not follow those lines (wish I could,
but--)
Hope you will introduce yourself and tell us something about your research
interests.
Regards, Patricia
