Just a reminder to double check all information and the sources.
Recently there has been discussion on an email group about the information
on the composition of the households for the 1790 and 1800 New York
censuses being reversed in a recent commercial compilation. In addition,
works of the 1930s often have information which is no longer considered
confirmed. In the late 40s it was established that surnames were not in
common use before the 1200s-1400s. Mailing list posts of a few years ago
may also have been superceded by the more readily available information of
today.
Although it is not necessary to have exact information, its good to put in
the source of information -- family story, a letter from my great-aunt
Mary, or whatever published material or filmstrip.
