Patricia,
I believe the book you are quoting is one of over
fifty that were published during the 1920s and 1930s by
the American Historical Society, Inc. Note the
"incorporated" This was one of those mass produced
scam type operations. The particular book which you
have cited had a chapter titled "CARMAN" and not
"Those were the days".
Evidently a member of your branch of the family tree
was involved with this publication since a lineage is
provided, which ends with Joseph Lincoln Carman born
in 1898 (Your second cousin.) Did this relative
assist in the writing of this family history???
The article in the book covered from page 143 to
page 150.
Your part 4 begins halfway down page 144 in the
middle of the 4th paragraph.
