This piece of Carman History has been online for a long time but
it is always nice to revisit. Seventy-three years before the arrival of one
of immigrant Carman Ancestors to America, John Carman, 1631.
A dark event in history took place to a member of the Carman
Family. A lengthy article provided by Barbara Parker provides the
background behind the burning at a stake of Thomas Carman.
The account is found in the "Foxe's Book of Martyrs", Edited and Abridged
by G.A. Williamson; Littleton, Brown and Co., Boston, pp. 412-414.
In addition another Carman Cousin, David Henry found a old book that
had been published in 1630, where there was an illustration of the burning!
You can see the illustration and the comprehensive article in the
articles section of the Carman Meeting Place Web Site. Again, this page has
been online for a few years now and is always good for a visit.
