This is a follow-up to an earlier post regarding the FamilySearch® Internet
Genealogy Service. On a visit to
www.lds.org a news release dated March 4,
1999, had the following statement regarding current speculation about an
Internet genealogy service sponsored by the Church:
It said that sometime in March or April 1999, The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints will be conducting a brief beta test of a new
genealogical service for the Internet. I had earlier informed you that it
would be at
http://www.familysearch.org . The Church is hoping that this
service will greatly enhance the way people trace their family history.
They hope to issue a formal announcement and the launch is expected in the
spring or summer of 1999. Unfortunately, no details will be available until
then.
If I hear anything new, I'll pass is along.
