James,
Shortly after I started working on the Carman line located in Harford
County Maryland, I made contact with Dan Carman via the internet before it
really became popular. I have had contact with several Carman researchers
and I hold Dan as the "overseer" of information. Dan has extensive work on
the New York area (as well as other places) and has been able to put people
in contact with specific researched area people. For example, anyone
looking for Carman info from the Harford & Baltimore County areas of
Maryland, albeit a small piece of the Carman puzzle, Dan would usually refer
them over to me. Local family legend has our Carman line coming in from
Wales, possibly thru New Jersey then passing thru Maryland (my people stayed
here) and continuing to Rattlesnake Creek, North Carolina. I have not
been in contact with Dan for awhile as I have slowed down my research for
awhile.
Try to contact Dan via the Carman website. If you have any trouble, let
me know..
Good Luck on your quest,
Bob Carman
Maryland

Subject: [CARMAN-CONTACTS] Request for Information
I was born and raised at Flanagan, IL. My Grandfather, James Carmon,
born
1868, Ottawa, IL of Nathan Carmon, probably born in New York; and
Elizabeth
(Wollet or Wallett) born in London, England. Grandfather James married
Mae
Mariah Bacon in about 1888 at Streator, IL, where they are both buried.
The name
Carmon is believed to have been spelled Carman at one time.
