Hi all,
I the interest of trying to spark discussion and data exchange I would like
to suggest that we submit our lineage to the list in a simple format with
the basic information (name birthdate, deathdate). This keeps it easy to
sort through and compare/comment on. Then we can fill in any additional
information as needed or requested. In addition I think that we should
submit the information in stages. By that I mean that we should submit the
groups in small number of generations to make it manageable, e.g. 2 or 3
generations. Possibly in successive days or weeks we can send in the next
batch for review and comparison. I also suggest we submit our Lists and
comments to the List as opposed to individual replies. That way we can all
benefit.
The following is a simple 3 generation example from my data. I use Family
Tree Maker and select the Outline Report, select 3 generations and the name,
birthdate, & deathdate to be included in the report. I'm sure other
programs do a similar report. From this you should be able to copy/paste
into an email. I have used Family Origins in the past and it also had a
similar report but I no longer recall the name.

As you can see 3 generations can be many names.
Obviously these are only suggestions and I'm sure there are some of us that
cannot link all the way back into Cornelius (or farther). Even I have made
an educated "guess" as to the parent of my gg grandfather (Jesse Ann Carmack
b 1797). So I suggest that we submit what we know as factual and indicate
what is not (like in my case where I suspect the father of Jesse Ann Carmack
to be John Carmack, born 1773).
By the way, I chose Cornelius since I am assuming that no one REALLY has
proof of a connection beyond him. I have an educated guess that I have
shared with the group but do not have any factual linkage. If anyone does
please share with the group.
What does everybody think? Here is my submission, please review/comment,
etc.
regards,
dale
