Gary, I agree with you. I hope I didn't imply it was not a good idea to
send ANY other type of data or question to the list. Everything is welcome
as usual. I was merely suggesting a simple format to start discussion and
the details brought forward as requested or offered. I had two objectives:
1) to get discussion going; and 2) to make it easy to review what people
submit with respect to their tree or family outline. When I get a 10
generation family tree it is difficult to review and compare. I either
waste a lot of paper or spend lots of time scrolling.
I also agree that the tree itself can be more interesting as the holes are
filled in with stories, snippits etc. So please keep it up.
Hope this clears it up. Everything is accepted, as usual.
regards,
dale

At first I thought this was an okay idea, but on reflection I've changed my
opinion. Each researcher is different, and will be looking for different
things; I, for instance, am now trying hard to tie down "proof" things like
wedding dates and places, witnesses to wills, etc.
More importantly, this totally omits the "stories", the snippets of
letters, wills and military records that make the basic factual material
seem dull in comparison.

This is a good idea, 90% of the time anyway.
