James,
The only John Carmack that I can find, who died in 1833, was John Carmack,
Jr.the son of John Carmack born 1720 son of Cornelius and Guein. From what
I can find he didn't have a son William, but this is not my direct line, so
I haven't done much research on it. These were the Carmacks in the
Washington Co., Va and Hawkins Co., Tn area.
As to William Carmack, brother of Lewis, he settled in Pulaski Co., Mo.
sometime in the 1830s. He was married and had his first child there in
1838. He was born in 1808 and that date fits one of the males in the 1830
census in the household of John Carmack of Bledsoe Co.
In 1836 a John Carmack bought land in Marion Co., Tn and a John Carmack was
listed in 1836 on a tax list in that area. Whether these are the older John
of Bledsoe County or possibly a son or someone we have missed, I don't know
at this time.
If you find any information on John of Bledsoe Co., please post it to the
list as we can use all the information we can find.

Last Dec., Agnes Jones wrote, in response to an inquiry about
William
and Sarah Carmack of Henry Co. TN, that the 1860 Henry Co. Census shows
Elizabeth Rainey 57, and Esther 55, were living with William 75, and
Sarah 69. John Carmack of Bledsoe Co. lived on Rainey's Turnpike.
According to the 1840 Census John Rainey along with Jesse Carmack lived
in that area. She wondered if there might be a connection between these
families. A John Carmack was living with William Carmack in 1830 and
was identified as his father in the Probate Record after John's death in
1833. Could this John be the John of Bledsoe Co.? Does anyone have
more information on John of Bledsoe Co.? Jim
