Many thanks to Gail and Judy for furnishing the above referenced will.
Gail also posed the following question:
Also, does anyone have any information at all
on Kisiah Hartsock or Benjamin Smith
mentioned in the will? Most lists that I have
seen list her as Kisiah Carmack who married a
Hartsock. Benjamin Smith is listed as a
son-in-law rather than a son. Since they are
mentioned in the 1847 will, both should have
been around somewhere in the 1850 census. I
have not found then in Lee County.
Best wishes, Gail
I can only offer an opinion, or food for thought, really. The 1810
Census shows 4 males who fit the ages of Enoch, Levi, Allen and Evan, &
Wm. 45 & over. There is 1 female 45 & over (Wm.'s wife) and only 1 dau.
which could be either Barbary or Kesiah, but one of them is gone,
married maybe. As to the males it looks as though he didn't have a son,
Benjamin Smith, yet he names him as a child in his will. ???
I too, have seen Barbary married to Benjamin Smith and Kesiah married to
Hartsock. I had supposed Hartsock was Kesiah's middle name for her
Mother's family, but none of the other children have middle names. Just
pondering.
