Washington Co, VA indenture between William CARMACK & Adam DECK
THIS INDENTURE made this twenty ninth day of September in
the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven
between William CARMACK and Winny his wife of the county of
Washington and State of Virginia of the one part and Adam DECK of
the county and State aforesaid of the other part WITNESSETH that
William CARMACK and Winny his wife for and in consideration of
the sum of thirty pounds current current <sic> money to them in
hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged that and by
these presents to the grant bargain sell alien -feof and confirm
unto the said Adam Deck his heirs and assigns forever a certain
tract or parcel of land containing eighty two acres be the same
more or less lying and being in the County of Washington in the
Rich Valley on the South branches of the North Fork of Holstein
river, it being part of Tract of Land granted to said Carmack by
said? Containing two hundred and twelve acres bearing date
February the 19th one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight and
Beginning at a white oak and Spanish oak South eighteen degrees
east ninety two poles crossing a branch to two white oaks on the
South side of a ridge thence North eighty five degrees east
eighty poles crossing a branch after to a buckeye ash and ben-in
a gap of Walkers mountain thence North eight degrees east eighty
poles to a small Locust and poplar on the West side of a steep
knob thence North thirty five degrees West twenty eight poles to
a large poplar and small white oak on the West point of an open
spur thence North -six degrees West sixty two poles to a large
black oak and small gum on a hill side thence South fifty eight
degrees West eighty pole to the Beginning with all and singular
the woods waters watercourses --- commodities --- appertaining
and the - and - and issues thereof and all the estate -ight title
interest -- -- and demand of them the said William Carmack and -
- - - of in and to the same and every part and parcel thereof
either in Law or equity. To Have and to Hold the said eighty two
acres of Land with the appurtenances unto the said Adam Deck his
heirs and assigns forever And the said William Carmack and Winny
his wife for themselves and their heir aforesaid tract of Land
and premises with the appurtenances ( A minor property, right, or
privilege, subsidiary or incidental to a more important one; an

assigns against the Lawful title - and demand of all and every
person or person whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever

At a court held for Washington County the 19th day of
December 1797. This Indenture of bargain and Sale was
acknowledged in court by the above named William Carmack and
ordered to be Recorded.
