Gail,
Inserting your comments into the email is a good way to do it, makes it
easier to see what the comments relate to. Just have to make sure you don't
overlook one while reading thru it. As for Enoch's death date, it was part
of some original data that I received and have not verified, sorry. Also, I
had it the Enoch was in the Union Army from one of your earlier emails but I
recently received some data written by Charles Carmack that stated he was
captured by Union soldiers when Abraham was 6 years old. His note also
states his wife was married 2nd to John H. Brooks.

Dale:
I have done some research on the Levi Carmack family. I will add some
notes to your family group (below). My comments are in {brackets}. Hope
that doing it this way is not too confusing. I am not an authority on this
family, by any means. Perhaps someone else in the group can add
information. By the way, my husband is a descendant of Levi's son William
b. 1822. --Gail

I have the following information on the Descendants of Levi Carmack:

1866
. +Elizabeth "Sally" Peters Born: 1791 in England Died: September 20,
1881
----------------------
{My note: I am not sure where Levi and his wife Elizabeth were born. On
the 1900 Claiborne Co, TN census both Martin and William (sons of Levi)
said that their parents were b. Maryland. Some of the research done by
Peters' descendants suggests that Elizabeth Peters may have been b. in
Scott Co. VA. The 1850 Lee Co. VA census gives her birth place as VA.}
-----------------------
2 Kesiah Carmack Born: October 20, 1812
.... +Dan Ayers

Claiborne Co, TN census. The Redmond children that I know about were b.
between 1849 and 1860.}
----------------------
2 William Carmack Born: March 14, 1822
.... +Nancy Cox
{My note: William Carmack was still living in 1900, age 78. I am
still
looking for his death date.}
----------------------
2 Levi Carmack, Jr. Born: March 04, 1824
.... +Caroline
-----------------------
{My note: Can anyone help here? Levi Carmack m. 1847 in Claiborne Co, TN
to Mary Rolling. Census records beginning in 1850 always list his wife as
Caroline. Could she possibly have been Mary Caroline Rolling (or maybe
Rowland)?}

.... +Alcy Ann Dean
{My note: Abraham Carmack served in the Union Army. He m.

----------------------
2 John Carmack Born: 1827
{My note: I have also been given
the date of 1827 for John's birth.
However, the Owsley Co, KY census gives his age as 30 in 1850. Could be an
error in the transcription of the census. John Carmack m. (1) Isabelle

"Hannah" Early in
1872}
---------------------
2 Enoch Carmack Born: July 03, 1836 Died: September 24, 1932
.... +Sarah Campbell
{Dale, what is your source for Enoch's death date? Enoch
was a Confederate
soldier. Family sources say that he was captured and died in Indiana
during the Civil War. I have not been able to find a record of his death.
His wife Sarah Campbell Carmack had remarried by the time of the 1870 Lee
Co, VA census.}
-------------
I found some information that states that Levi had a 2nd marriage to
Sarah
Richards and that Evan, Martin, and Enoch are children from this
marriage.
Does anyone else support this marriage and children?
------------
{My note: From " Marriage Licenses of Frederick Co, MD 1778-1810"
transcribed by M. Myers:
Aug 16, 1791 -- William Carmack to Sarah Richards
Is this the same Sarah Richards, or was there another one? There are a
number of William Carmacks. Do you know which one this is? If you get
more information on a second marriage of Levi Carmack, I would appreciate
having it passed on to me. Thanks, Gail {end of my notes}
