Agnes,
1850 Coffee County, TN Census, page 84 B or 168 (?).......Dweller # 1186:
Saml, Carmack, 36 M, Farmer, born N. C.
Mary, 30, Female, born in N. C.
Robert, 10 M, born in N. C.
Pelam, 7 M, born in N. C.
John, 5, M born in TN
Wilaby (?), 3 born in TN
Saml, 1, M born in TN
So, this could not be the same Samuel B. Carmack found in 1860 Hardeman and
1870 Gibson county, TN.......because this Samuel is 52 on the Hardeman county
1860 census and 61 on the Gibson county 1870......
I feel really stupid.......Agnes, comparing the names of the wives and
children, they are the same......
1860 Hardeman County, TN page 245, Dweller # 1700:
S. B. Carmack, 52, M, Farmer born in N. C.
Mary G. 42, female , born in N. C.
Johnathan, 19 , M born in N. C.
Poinset, 17, M, born in N. C.
John W., 14, M, born in TN
Willoughby, 12 M, born in TN
William , 5 (if he is mine, it should be 7) born in TN
Margaret, 3, female, born in TN
Mary A., 1, female, born in TN
Are these names just simular or are they the same family? I am really
confused.
Thanks for your help!
Marsha
Hi Marsha,
The puzzle is who is the Samuel Carmack living in Coffee County, TN 1850,
Cenus show:
Carmack, Samuel 36, Mary 30, Robert 10, Pelam 7, John 5, Willaby 3, Saml.
1, both Samuel and Mary born N.C. but if you notice the bible records of
Aquilla Carmack say he is born in N.C. when he was born in Maryland.
1960 Census Hardeman Co., Tn.
Carmack, S. B. & Mary
Through all my research I haven't found where this Samuel came from but
if you look on a TN map you will find Coffee Co. not too far from Overton
Co. and I fell there must be a connection with these Carmacks, also
Bledsoe Co. is not too far from Coffee, we have never found anything on
the children of John Carmack that lived in Bledsoe Co., TN.
I wish I could help more but this is one I have worked on but never found
an answer.
Good Luck, Agnes >>
