John,
Sorry, Let's try again. I found Carl & Irene with daughter Elizabeth in the
1930 North Little Rock, Pulaski Co, Arkansas Census.
Name: Carl Lewter
Spouse: Irene
Birth: abt 1895 - Tennessee
Residence: 1930 - North Little Rock, Pulaski, Arkansas
Elizabeth was born in Alabama. Carl was a car inspector on the Rail Road.
Still didn't lead to the Carmack connection but gets you into Arkansas in
1930.

Dale,
Appreciate the info. I didn't recall ever seeing this family before so
pulled the census up on
ancestory.com - sorry wrong color!
The family I am looking for is white.
The Elizabeth I am seeking info on was a dau. of Carl Raymond and Irene
Lewter. Tho orginally from Lincoln County, Tn.; on the 1930 Census they will
be found in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas.
it's after the 1930 census and, expecially after she married Mr. Carmack,
that I loose track of her untill her death 2003, which occured in Dallas
County, Texas.

An obit was submiited by another list member. But that only posed
additional
questions. I have searched the census schedules, and, as you say, these
were
of pre-marriage era so very little help there in determining the name of
her
husband. It would appear that they had been divorced for several years. If
they had been married and he had died prior to her death, the obit would
have mentioned that fact.
On a hunch I pulled up the Carmacks listed on the 1930 Census for both
Limestone and Morgan Counties of Alabama, hoping to find a male within her
age group that she might have married, but no luck there. I guess I just
have to wait another 20 years for the 1950 census to go public! Well,
actually only about 12 years.
I do appreciate your help.
John
