I recently received a list of the Civil War
Veteran's that submitted
Questionnaires from the Tennessee Archives. The
following CSA
Carmac/Carmack's were listed:
Carmac, George 322
Carmack, Edward W. 400
Carmack, E.W. 254
Carmack, Jim 379
No Carmack's listed on the Federal Roster.
These Questionnaires were submitted between 1914 and
1918. Some of the
information is very informative, including parent's,
sometimes grandparents
and where they were born.
Jesse Washington Carmack stated in his Questionnaire
that his parents were
John Jackson Carmack and Mary Polly Ealum (Elam) and
that some of them came
from N.C. to TN and some from VA. Very interesting
reading.
I don't know why Jesse is not on the list I received
from the Archives.
Thought some of you might not be aware of these
Questionnaires. Copies can be
obtained from the Tennessee Archive's for $5 per
copy.
Jerald
