As most people know the Carmack Message Boards are gatewayed to the
Rootsweb Carmack Mailing List, but are we remembering to monitor the
GenForum (hosted by Genealogy.com)? Apparently I have not read it, for a
year at least until today. I have found a posting that is most
interesting to me and should be to several others. You may click on this
URL to read that posting and others that you may have missed:

I am pasting the posting below that I consider very important and it
should resolve some disagreement about which William Carmack in Virginia
was the Rev. Soldier. It obviously is the William Carmack, born 1761,
who died in 1851 after drawing his pension in Lee County, VA. and not the
William Carmack, born 1766, who lived nearly his entire life in
Washington County, VA. and died there in 1849.

NSDAR are no longer accepting applications based on the Revolutionary War
service of William Carmack who died in 1849. Service previously credited
to this man has been shown to belong instead to another man of the same
name who was a pensioner and died in 1851. This line needs to be reopen.
If this is your NSDAR ancestor lets get to work.
