There is great deal of information about our ancestor, Cornelius

of it is proven by actual records, and some of it is arrived at

estimation, calculation or reasonable assumption. As in a jury trial,
this type
of circumstantial evidence is admissable in genealogy as long as it is
so
labeled. As all of us must admit, it is often helpful to point us in the
right
direction, but must always be subject to question as new evidence
surfaces.
This is the start of a thread to establish the reasoning behind some of the
unproven data about our Cornelius CARMACK I.
1. Why is his date of birth given as 1681? Should it appear as "ca
1681", "est
1681" or (1681?)?
2. Why is Scotland thought to be his place of birth?
3. Why is wife Guien's last name thought to have been COREM? Was this
not her
first marriage?
4. Why is Christopher CARMACK thought to have been the father of
Cornelius I?

Re: Carmack, Cornelius, letter from Louis Reitzammer:
1. 1681 seems to be a date handed down to be the birthdate of Cornelius
#1, I have never seen anything to prove that.
2. Scotland???
Reference: Kating's History of Ireland, by The Reverand Geoffrey Keating,
D. D.
page # 669, Chapter 11,
The Genealogy of the Race of Cormac Cas, the second son of Olild Olum, Down
Here.
Page # 677, #36. Cas, from who the Dal g-Cais (Daulga'l) are named; This
Cas (Cass) had twelve sons, namely, Blod, Caisin, Lugaidh, Sedna, Aengus
Kenn-Atrach, Cormac, Carthann and this goes on with other names but note
the name Cormac, I don't know if this is a connection but I find it very
interesting.
3. Again no documentation on Guien.
4. As for Christopher being father of Cornelius this one I still have
problems with, this doesn't mean that he isn't the father of Cornelius,
again nothing to prover who the is the father of Cornelius.
Same book, page A-20, top 50 surnames of Scotland, Cameron is the only CA.
Registered Book of Arms (1690), list of names of Irish Septs, compiled by
Sir James Terry, Athlone Herald (1690)(this is from same book), page A-32
list the following name- O Coruin, O Cormacan.
I also will look forward to hearing from Carmack Cousins on this.
