Carmack, Betty Jane
In Loving Memory of BETTY JANE CARMACK Aug. 24, 1927 - Nov. 15, 2007 Betty Jane passed
away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Pasadena. She lived a generous and courageous
life, sustained by her love and commitment to the family she and her husband, Jim , made
together. Born in Annapolis, Maryland, Betty Jane married James Alfred Carmack in 1951 and
they moved to California in 1955. Even after being diagnosed with cancer in 1973, Betty
Jane continued to nurture and care for her five children, Cathy, Lisa, Jim, Meg and Dave.
Through the next thirty four years, Betty Jane welcomed daughters-in-law Terrie and
Adrienne and sons-in-law John Jones, John Symes and Peter O'Neil into the family, and
then seventeen grandchildren! Lisa, PJ, Will, Molly, Jimmie, Jenna , Sam, Olivia, Katie,
Sarah, Jack, Anna, Mary, Adrienne, David, Allie and Tommy. She loved each one grandly and
singularly. BJ/Mom/Nana, you will be missed beyond measure and held closely and always in
each of our he!
arts. We will live our lives to honor the legacy of your strength and selfless love. In
addition to husband, Jim, and their children and grandchildren, Betty Jane is survived by
her loving sister, Peggy Mooney, her Mooney nieces and nephews and beloved caregiver
Berenice. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 19, 2007, 12 noon at Holy
Family Church, 1301 Rollin St, South Pasadena. Cabot & Sons, Pasadena
