I am forwarding the following information from Family Tree DNA. They have
modified their tests. Basically they used to have a 12 ($99), 25 ($169),
and 37 ($229) marker tests (these are Group rates). Now they have 12, 37,
and 59 (Prices below). The good news is that 37 marker test costs less,
even the upgrade from 25 to 37 costs less. My opinion is that 37 markers is
sufficient for our project. There may be a time when it would be beneficial
for the extra markers but I'm not sure how to justify it yet.
The following is from an email I received:
It is our pleasure to inform you that Family Tree DNA has launched the
highest resolution Y-DNA test in the market: the 59-marker Y-DNA test.
For information about the impact of this test for matching purposes, please
refer to the following page:

Not only does this new test have a very attractive price, but with our
recent increases in volume we have also been able to reduce the price of the
37-marker test to $189. All the upgrades to 37 and 59 have been priced
accordingly!
Here are the new prices:
Y-DNA12 $99
Y-DNA37 $189
Y-DNA59 $269
Y-Refine12to37 $99
Y-Refine12to59 $189
Y-Refine25to37 $49
Y-Refine25to59 $148
Y-Refine37to59 $99
Y-DNA12+mtDNA $199
Y-DNA37+mtDNAPlus $339
Y-DNA59+mtDNAPlus $409
Now that the 59 marker test has become available, we have dropped the 25
marker test option. However, participants who have already tested 25
markers will still be able to upgrade to 37 or to 59.
As always, we thank you for your continued support!
