My mother is trying to piece together her Carmack roots. Her father was Amariah Carmack
Mason. His mother was Mary Edna Carmack Mason. Mary's father was Amariah Andrews
Carmack. These people were from Brownsville, Pa. There is a book by J.H. Beers and Co.
titled "Commemorative Biographical Record of Washington County Pennsylvania". On
page 394 there is a reference to S. C.(S=Shelby C.=Crall) Carmack. In that article they
show that Amariah Carmack was the son of Abraham, and Abraham was the son of Peter. I
have looked at all pedigrees listed practically everywhere and Peter's father is Evan,
Evan's father is William, and William's father is Cornelius but I have just
assumed that Christopher is Cornelius's father because of what everyone has said is in
Dr. Peckham's book. I hope I can find it in our State library so I can read it and
see if there is anything that would help my mother. I found one pedigree listing on this
websie that names Peter's father as John Carmac!
k(not necessarily spelled Carmack) Carmack. I just was looking for sources from there, I
know that it is all assumptions. We think there may be more info. in Brownsville and are
planning a trip out there soon. My mother said that her grandmother ( Mary Edna Carmack)
had the family tree traced through the D A R and had given it to a family member who, as
of yet, can't find it. I don't know how far back it goes but if we ever get a
hold of it, I will share, share, share. I have only built on what others have already
done, but I am trying to find information any way I can. My mother has a coat of arms for
Carmack and she thought she also had the written instructions for how to draw it and the
colors to use. I found this forum and thought if I could contribute or find something
from others' contributions, we could all help each other. If I find any more out
about the coat of arms or anything else I'll post it here.
