I have extensive files on Ephraim & his descendants. He was the son of Levi
Carmack (1750-1785) & Susannah Justice (1748-1834). Levi was the son of
William & Jane Carmack, William the son of Cornelius I. Susannah was the
daughter of John & Elizabeth Justice.
Sarah Brightwell (1785-1834) was the daughter of William Brightwell & Mary
Waddell as stated; William was the son of John Brightwell & Sarah Carmack,
Sarah being the daughter of William & Jane Carmack, William the son of
Cornelius I.
Or in other words, Ephraim & Sarah were 1st cousins once removed.

can anyone ID these children. Theya are a partial of one of my

1. Ephraim Carmack (died at age 74) b May 20 1779 in Woodsboro, Frederick
MD; d April 14, 1854 in Mercer Co., Oh; m Sarah Brightwell (died at age
48); m July 29, 1852 in Butler Co., OH. She was born October 12, 1785 in
Frederick Co., MD and died July 28, 1834 in Paddy's Run, Butler Co., Oh.
Parents were: William Brightwell and Mary Waddell. "Ephraim Carmack who
settled in Mercer Co. Ohio in 1844, married Sarah Brightwell. He opened a
graveyard on his farm, which the neighborhood used for many years. Ephraim
was born in Woodsboro, Frederick Co. Maryland. The family left Maryland
and moved to Crab Orchard, KY and then to Cincinnati. There he met and
married Sarah Brightwell. After their first 4 children were born they
moved to Paddy's Run, in Butler County, Ohio. "He was a natural born
teamster and distinguished in his cherished avocation. He brought with him
a genuine Conestoga wagon and a team of eight horses. He was also a
'mighty hunter' and seldom returned from his excursions without bringing
many trophies of his skill in the chase. The Cholera epidemic took
Ephraim's wife Sarah, their son Basil. Ephraim and some of his children
moved to Mercer Co". Sources:
