Hello, Pat,
Out of curiosity, have you ever come across any probate records for William
Carmack, Levi's father, who died in Sept. 1851? I have a copy of his will,
but have not been able to locate any further records.
Regards,
Wendy Carver

Dale,
Levi Carmack, b. 1791, was my gg-grandfather. The youngest of his 13
children was Enoch, my gr,grandfather. The 1860 census shows Enoch, age
23, living with his father Levi. Sarah, Enoch's wife, is also listed.
Abraham (6-12 months) was their son.
William (Levi's father) was blind when he lived with his son Levi in
Lee County, VA. To clarify the question about Lee County, VA, and
Claiborne County, TN, the two counties border each other. In fact, the
family farm owned by my grandparents was purchased from Sarah Carmack
Brooks who married John Brooks after Enoch disappeared during the Civil
War. The farm was divided by the two counties. The house was in Claiborne
County, TN, and the barn was in Lee County, VA. I have seen the county
line sign staked across the road from the house.
Rest assured, the Levi Carmack family of the two counties are all one
and the same.
Pat O'Neal
