Millie - thanks. I descend from the John Carmack who is the brother of your
Cornelius (m. Mary Cookson). No Wood connection that I've found is linked
to a Gillenwater (that must be a great name for research). Kind regards,
bill

He married Elizabeth Dines about 1788. She was born in 1768 and died Nov.
1,
1850 in Washington Co. VA and is buried in Carmack Highpoint, Munpower Place
Cemetery (Source:The Carmack Family Genealogy by Charles W. Peckham, Sr.
1998) along with your John. But this source does not call him John Jr. He
is actually the 3rd generation John from the beginning of this source, which
starts with Christopher McCarmack, b. abou 1650 in Scotland.
Your last name - Wood. There was a Gillenwater that married a Wood
(descended
from Cornelius and Mary Cookson) - is this your line?.
