Hi Jerald,
Thanks for remembering me regarding Susanna Carr.
I'm thinking All those kids under Thomas are from Rebecca shown there. and
she is too young to be mother of Susanna. The census things are a real
problem with Susanna for following reasons....She would probably only have
been on the 1810 and 1820 if at all. She married John Wesley Carmack in
1822 and they left Oveton County for Iowa before 1830, so she wouldn't
have been on that census...and then went to Illinois and on down to
Texas....they kinda missed the census years here an there.... The 1810
census that I have seen shows only those 'age ranges' that no body can
pinpoint a person's age...and same with 1820 I think....My information is
that She and John Wesley were married in Overton County on 22 May, 1822. I
don't know if anyone has ever been able to come up with a marriage
certificate on them...I wish I knew how or where to find it. Her birth
date is 18 Feb 1804 and I have seen in two places that she was born in
VA....one being the 1850 Fannin County Texas Census and the other in an old
newspaper article from the Stephenville, Texas library where they settled
and lived out their years. It just says she was born in VA and doesn't
elaborate beyond that. She is a real mystery thus far... I have searched
the web time and again for mention of her in Virginia and Tennessee...i
thought I had found her as the daughter of John Carr and Fanny Sells,
but she was not mentioned in the long list of children they had. Strange
thing was that some of her children bore first names of Fanny's family's
names.
Maybe just a coincidence. Also, on the Fannin County, TX 1850 census,
while Susanna and John lived there, there is listed a 'Fanny Carr" age 24.
Thanks again for keeping me in mind.
Yours,
Norm
