I have corresponded recently with someone with regard Ann Black's
family. During this correspondence a question arose which questions
Henry Lyner's connection to Margaret Clemons, dau of Catherina Vogt &
Christian Clemons.
Henry Lyner was born about 1733-1734, but I have seen no proof as to
when or where he was born.
His wife was supposedly Margaret Clemons, daughter of Christian Clemons
and Catherine Vogt, which everyone claims.
The Blacks were neighbors with the Lyner's in GA and John Black (Ann
Black's father) intermarried with Margaret Lyner.
Margaret Lyner has been stated to be the daughter of Christian Clemons
and Catherine Vogt.
Johan Paulus Vogt (Faught etc of various spellings) was born @ 1680
Luckenberg, Thalfany Village, Germany
Came to America 1733 on ship Charming Betty
Settled in Augusta Co., VA.
Died with a will dated 10-5-1759 and proved 8-18-1761 (Will Book 3 pages
240-249 & Page 461
Wife name Mary Katherine and Children were Katherine Cleman, Andrew &
Caspar
Christian Cleman proved the will with the widow
Christian Clemons (Clements etc of various spellings) married Catherine
Vogt in Augusta Co., VA
He died there with a will dated 1781 and he was deceased before
3-15-1781
According to his will he had a daughter named Margaret who married
Phillip Barrier. Phillip Barrier was born 1721(Berger/ Burger etc of
various spelling) and he came to America on the same ship as Johan Vogt.
Now the question is: How could Margaret Lyner be a daughter of Christian
Clemons if his will in 1781 called his daughter Margaret Barrier, wife
of Phillip Barrier?
Has anyone researched this and have any proof of the Margaret Clemmons
marriage to Henry Lyner?
