Hi Dorla,
Good to hear from you. Hope you are doing well. I had 2 major
surgeries within 4 months last year so I am slower, but OK otherwise.
Dorla, I don't know if that is your Mary or not. I get more confused
because the Family Group Sheet for Evan and Lydia that I was referring
to has their children listed somewhat differently. I will get back into
it and see what the source is and pass along to you how the children are
listed on it. Right now I just do not have time to do it, but I will do
my best to get back soon.
Have a happy day. Betty

This message below, from you, makes good sense to me, as I think my
Mary Polly Carmack born abt. 1820 in Va. is the one that wed to Peter
Cline in Putnam Co., Ind. June 5 ,1839. The only Carmack I have been
able to locate in this area at the time is Evan.

Cal and Jim
After I sent the earlier message today I went back to the computer and
looked at what you have for the families of Allen and Evan, 2 sons of
Wm. Carmack and Margery Catherine Hartsock My spirits fell because I
saw and remembered the conflicting information regarding this Evan.
The root of the problem is that there were 2 Evans born very close
together and are being confused with each other. The one I have been
referring to was born 1796, surely in Wash. Co. VA. because his family
moved there before he was born The other Evan who was born in 1794 in
Frederick Co MD. to Jacob Carmack and his wife Catherine Carmack. This
Jacob Carmack family did not migrate to VA, as did John and Cornelius in
the early 1770's.
(A little poser for you: which one of these Evans would you believe
most likely to be the one marrying in Wash.Co VA to Lydia Kaylor? If
you are like me it would be the Evan who lived in Wash. Co. VA and was
born in Wash. Co VA and the same one whose Father William took him &
brothers to IN. and this Evan and Lydia are found in MO in 1860).
The Evan who was son of Jacob and Catherine Carmack I believe has been
erroneously attached to Lydia Kaylor, but I do not know who he married.
When I go to the computer data for the family of Evan Carmack and Lydia
Kaylor, I find that you are showing what I consider to be the wrong
Evan for the father of this family. I think it should be the Evan who
was the son of Wm Carmack and Margery Hartsock. The census of Dent Co.
MO in 1860 shows "Lidda" and Evan still living , but your FG Sheet shows
a death date for Evan to be 1846, (the year the other Evan died). The
family I gave you for Evan and Lydia was stated to be probably
incomplete, but it does somewhat resemble the family you have shown for
them.
I rest my case, but I sure wish you could question the people who
originated the info you have.
I desperately need to answer some questions from Jim, so I will get this
on it's way.
Betty
