I recently bought a bag full of old pictures at garage sale. Elderly lady
who sold them stated they were her step-father's family - his last name
was Lemons and he was from the Center/Arcadia area in Shelby County. She
kept those with her step-father in them, but was getting rid of others.
Many pictures not identified. Several have "Arcadia" written on them. Most
of pictures small but in fairly good condition. Names I have listed are
the ones with some identification. Most of pictures are from before 1900's.
I would love to see these pictures returned to their family. If you have
any interest in the names I have listed, contact me at my e-mail address.
I work full-time, so it may take me a little time to get back in touch
with you.

Subject: Old Pictures #2
Surname: Lemons, Walker
-------------------------
In my first message about old pictures from Shelby County, I forgot to
mention that there are four pictures of the same children taken at various
ages. There is no last name but first names are Clifton and Magdalene with
their mother Lucy. There are two more pictures of these same two children,
and the last one shows the two of them with a baby named Curtis Baylor
(Baylor being last name???) There are also three pictures of a young woman
posing in various dresses and she looks a lot like one of the women in
one of the pictures of the Walker family. There is a pictures of a couple
identified only as George and Alta (I think it is Alta) and another picture
of this couple with several children - the older two boys have very
distinctive
ears. There is an "Alta" identified on one of the pictures of the Willis
family. Many of the families seem to be connected, for Schullers are on
pictures with the Walkers, Jimmie Willis was evidently a Runnels before
her marriage, etc. One picture of an old house has "Sexton" written on
it, and the picture of Mrs. Mary Carmack with a young child has written
"Sulphur Springs" on it. Most of the pictures are of the Walker family.
There are several pictures of the J. C. Walker store at Arcadia, a picture
of the School at Arcadia taken in 1905 or 1906, and an old picture of
several
persons standing in front of McKay Grocery store, but no location given
on that picture. A great number of the pictures have no identification
but are quite interesting - one is a young woman aiming a rifle; one is
a young man, young woman (obviously pregnant) and a another woman all
standing
in a hay field - the young man is using a pitch form. There is one of Mrs.
Powdrill and Mrs. Harris standing in the barnyard with a cow and suckling
calf. Hope these find their proper home!
