Hi Marvin,
Cornelius and Lettice McMillan Carmack's daughter Lettie married Thomas
Maxwell abt 1814. Thomas came from NC and Lettie was born in VA. They lived all
of their married lives in Overton Co. TN. They had 10 children; about half
of them remained in Overton Co., and the rest all headed westward - Arkansas,
Kansas, Utah and Washington. I believe we have almost all the family from
Thomas forward accounted for and I don't know of any that went to IL, but it's
always possible.....Thomas is my brick wall.
I believe the Bezeleel Maxwell family went from VA then into Kentucky,
Indiana and possibly IL, you might want to explore that possibility. We are
looking into this family also, lots of clues but haven't been able to make a
definite connection. I would be interested to know if you find a Maxwell
connection!
As to my husband's Campbell line, they came from Scotland to New York, and
then to Canada and Michigan. None went any further south.
Marilyn
To Marilyn,
How does the Maxwell name enter your line??
There was a marriage between Maxwell "Mack" Talbert Campbell and Christine
Cornelius on July 25, 1923 in Coles Co., IL. He was born in about 1896, and
his parents were G. W. Campbell and Jennie L. Bryant. His bride was
Christine Cornelius b. abt 1903 in Terre Haute, IN. They both claim this is
their first marriage.
Marvin
