Hi Marvin,
Cornelius and Lettice McMillan Carmack's daughter Lettie married Thomas
Maxwell abt 1814. Thomas came from NC and Lettie was born in VA. They
lived all
of their married lives in Overton Co. TN. They had 10 children;
about
half
of them remained in Overton Co., and the rest all headed westward -
Arkansas,
Kansas, Utah and Washington. I believe we have almost all the
family
from
Thomas forward accounted for and I don't know of any that went
to IL, but
it's
always possible.....Thomas is my brick wall.
I believe the Bezeleel Maxwell family went from VA then into Kentucky,
Indiana and possibly IL, you might want to explore that possibility. We
are
looking into this family also, lots of clues but haven't been
able to
make a
definite connection. I would be interested to know if you find a
Maxwell
connection!
As to my husband's Campbell line, they came from Scotland to New York, and
then to Canada and Michigan. None went any further south.
