Jim, just for your info the Carmacks in AL owned a little super market that I actually
went in and introduced myself to the Carmack wife who was in attendance that day. I spoke
to her about being in the nearby cemetary where many Carmacks were buried. She at that
time said they were not interested in following up on genealogy!!
Anyway some Carmack in their past background donated the land for the cemetary. I believe
it was The Antioch Cedmetary but its been awhile since I was there and I am relying on my
memory.
So glad to hear there were more Carmack entrepreneurs!

Karen,
During that time period, my paternal grandfather (Wade Rutledge
Carmack) owned and operated a shoe store on the main drag of Bristol, TN
or VA. That street may have been named "Pennsylvania Ave"; and the store
may have been named "Carmack's Shoe Store". One side of the main street
was in TN and the other side was in VA.
I would bid for that photo, if I knew for sure that Carmack was
part of the name of his store.

There is a photo for sale on eBay called Carmack's Shoe Store.

Anyone know these people? I would guess the time frame as late 1800s -
early 1900s.
