Okay people, I got this notice from a friend, and I went ahead
and
checked
as I had received email from him in the last month and I DID have
this
virus, so did Maurice...........
It is really important that all of you check your system to make sure you
dont have it too. Also, if you do find it, make sure you do let people
know
to check for it on their own systems. This is not one of those random
scare
messages, it really is a virus, and it really does exist and it
certainly
isn't something I want to deal with, so I am taking this very serious.
Please, TAKE THE TIME TO SEARCH, it could save you a lot of heartache come
June 1.
I have been to the site that talks about this "virus". It is not clear if
it is a hoax or really will convert to a virus on June 1. Just to be
safe,
I recommend that you do the following and see if it is in your system
and
then delete it.
> >
> > -----------------------
> > Received the following from a friend, Maurice has gone through these
steps and found the virus. Please follow the directions to find and delete
the file. I did find this virus on my hard drive
on C and D. Make sure you check all drivers.
> >
> > Virus software cannot detect it. It will not become active until June
1,
2001. At that point it will be too late. It wipes out all the files
and
folders on the hard drive. The virus travels through e-mail and migrates
to
the\windows\command folder. To find and delete it off your computer,
do
the
following.
> >
> > Click on to start button
> > Go click on FIND or SEARCH
> > Go click on FILES and FOLDERS
> > Make sure the find box is searching the C drive
> > Type in SULFNBK.EXE
> > Begin search
> > If it finds it, highlight it and press the Del key on your keyboard.
(or
> > right click it and
> > delete it that way)
> > Close the find dialog box.
> > Open the Recycle Bin
> > Find the file and delete from your Recycle Bin.
> > You should be safe.
> >
> > The bad part is: you need to contact everyone you have sent any e-mail
to in the past few months. I don't know how long this has been on our
computers.
> >
> > DO NOT RELY ON YOUR ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE. IT DOES NOT BECOME A VIRUS
UNTIL
> > JUNE 1ST. IT WILL BE TOO LATE THEN.
> > WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT OPEN THE FILE!!
