Hi Carol,
Did you happen to hear any more on this from anyone? I'm looking for more
details. Where in TN is Lone Chestnut Cemetery? I do not have any
Elizabeth with a middle initial R, or whose birthday fits yours. The only
Dean I have is Alcy Ann Dean, married to Abraham Carmack. Abraham and Alcy
would have been the right age to have a daughter her age:
Abraham Carmack b: 22 October 1826 d: 16 May 1910, married to Alcy Ann
Dean. This is all I have on them. Abraham had 3 wives, Alcy the first and
lived in Owlsley Co, KY. There are a group of AL Caramcks that have lots of
loose ends.
If you have any additional information please let me know. Otherwise stay
in touch with the Carmack list and maybe something will turn up.
dale

Seeking info on Elizabeth R. Carmack (see variations for last name). She
is my gggrandmother. ! have very sketchy info on her. Her headstone at
the cememtery says she was born 28 Mar 1844 and died 4 Mar 1902. I have
her born in GA, died in TN buried in Lone Chestnut Cemetery. She married
Sam M. Turner in TN but I don't even have a marriage date. Their son Charlie
Joe (C.L.) Turner, my great grandfather was born 1 Aug 1878 in Decatur,
Morgan, AL.
Oral history says Elizabeth's parents disowned her for "marrying beneath
herself". Sam Turner is said to have disappeared while on a river trip
to get grain ground. The grain was found floating inthe river but he was
never found. Some tales sa he was killed by a "Jeeters" family; some say
he ran off with another woman. Nothng has ever been proven either way.
The Turner and Cormack/Carmack, etc. lines both end here.
My grandmother said she thinks she remembers her daddy saying that
Elizabeth's
mother "was a Dean" (last name. But the Elizabeth Carmack I found whose
mother's last name was Dean was married to someone else.
My grandmother is now 81 and I'd love to be able to give this information
to her.
