Hi Le Anna;
Thanks for the info. I will look into it. I also used Dr. Peckham's book (the new
version.) Unfortunately my branch ends with JD in his book (stops after two children) so
it misses five generations. Since he passed shortly after the book was published, I
don't know if it will be updated in the future. Anyhow, I'll see what I can
locate.
Thanks again
Fred

Subject: Re: [CARMACK] James/Samuel/John Delaney/Lemuel Lee Connection
An administration account is also an option. I am a member of the DAR, my
patriot is John C. Carmack, and I used obituaries as well. I have a copy of Dr.
Peckham's Carmack Family Genealogy book. I have checked for references to Wills
or Deeds in the book for your ancestors and unfortunately do not see any. I did
notice that Samuel owned 450 acres in Overton County, TN. There should be a
land record for him. Since his wife died after him, I would check for a Will
for her as well.
I was also able to make a connection through the Wills of the wife's father,
mother and brother as they named their son-in-law, some grandchildren, and
nieces and nephews, in the case of the brother.
Hope this helps.
Le Anna

Hello all, I am working on applications to DAR and SAR for my kids/grandkids
and
having problems with some connections. They aren't accepting just the
censuses and I'm looking for wiils/deeds or other proofs on the following
connections starting with my great-grandfather Lemuel Lee Carmack:
Lemuel Lee (1871-1905, TN-TN or KY)/Eva Stroud (1873-1914, TN-KY)
John Delaney (1838-1917, TN-TN or KY)/Sarah Jane Brady (1844-1901, Overton
TN-Overton TN)
Samuel (1809-1860, TN-Overton TN)/Alcey Chapin, (1814-1899, Overton,
TN-Overton TN)
James (1784-1842, Washington VA- Overton TN)/Nancy McMillen 1787-1856
VA-
Overton TN)
Also looking for burials. Lemuel and Eva are supposed to be at Red River
(Logan
KY) per their death certs, along with Sarah, but cemetery records can't
confirm. I visited last May and talked to the volunteer caretaker and she is
attempting to verify. Sarah's headstone has her name broken off and missing.
John is at Carmack Cemetery outside Livingston TN. Visited there also, cemetery
was virtually inaccessible due to growth, but John, Cornelius Jr and Betsie were
observed. If anyone wants to visit the cemetery I posted GPS at Findagrave. It
is on private property (unmarked) near the closed landfill. According to a
neighbor, who pointed out the "old cemetery", the previous landowners have
passed the property to their children, who don't mind visitors to site, although
damage is extensive to the fence surrounding it.
Thanks for any info.
