Is there any Maryland Carmack's that have a Samuel Carmack in their lineage that was
born in NC. Also, could the parents of a Samuel born in NC move back to Maryland to their
homeplace? My husband's ancestor is John Carmack b. 21 August 1819 Cravens Co NC and
his DNA confirmed he was related to a Samuel B. Carmack b. 1808 in NC. Researcher's
from the Samuel B. Carmack line can't seem to find his ancestors.
The Carmack's in NC had to have come from somewhere and I thought possibly from
Frederick County Maryland where many Carmack's were living in the early years. Many
years ago I had received info by a Josephine Carmack who is deceased now, but she had John
Carmack's father was a John Carmack in MD married to 1. Mary Delaplaine 2. Ellen/Helen
Landers. At first the son John was listed as being born in Maryland, but later changed to
Cravens, NC. That family is listed below:
John CARMACK, JR (son of John CARMACK & Sarah WOLF)
born @ 1784 died 23 Apr 1850 Frederick Co, Ladiesburg, MD
married 1. Mary DELAPLAINE b. 7 Jul 1789 d.18 Jun 1838
married 2. Ellen/Helen LANDERS on 13 Mar 1840 b. @1802 MD
1. Ephraham CARMACK b.@1809 d.1894
2. Sophia CARMACK b.@1811 d.@1879
3. Hanson CARMACK b.@1816 d.aft 1850
4. John CARMACK 111, b.21 Aug 1819 d.@1895 Greene Co AR
5. William CARMACK b.1 Mar 1820( 7 mo baby?) d.21 Apr 1899
6. Margaret CARMACK b. 11 Dec 1825 d. 7 Apr 1897
7. Sarah CARMACK
8. Joshua CARMACK b. 3 Apr 1827 d. 2 August 1892

By the way on the 9th of May I will be a CARMACK for 46 years, married to my husband,
Charles aka Sonnie CARMACK.
That is 3 times longer than I was a LAYTON because I was 15 when Sonnie & I were
married in 1965.
So Best Regards to Everyone,
Lois LAYTON Carmack
