Parents of William Carmack b. 1761, the Revolutionary soldier, were Cornelius Carmack and
Marjorie Jane Evans. His known children were Enoch, Barbara, Kisiah, Levi, Allen, and
Evan. William Carmack enlisted, at age 18, in the Illinois Regiment and served 14 months
of a 12-month enlistment. He applied for a veteran's pension and received it in 1833.
His half-annual allowance was $22.27.
William Carmack died in 1851 while living with his son Levi Carmack in Lee Co, VA. As far
as we know, he was buried in an unmarked grave. We have determined, by the area in which
he lived, and by the age of the cemetery, that his grave would have been in what is now
called the Brooks Cemetery. This is where the marker will be placed in his memory on
November 3, 2012.
The cemetery is on Route 690 near Ewing, VA. It is out in the country. Anyone who plans
to attend, and who needs additional directions, may contact Donald Campbell

Sons of American Revolution
