This is just for anyones information.
A great, great grandaughter of Eppes Carmack states that the family is of German descent. She couldn't give me the original name, just that it was shortened to Carmack. I have no proof, just wanted to give anyone looking that information.
Beth still wating for the info you said you would send me.
Thanks,
Glenda Knowlton

Don't know if this will help but will share a little with you as I am a
descendant of Carmacks' and this is what I have so far:
John Christopher Carmack was born in 1653 in Scotland. His immigration date
is 1678...He arived in America from Wick, Scotland aboard ship "ST. George"
captained by John Quigley. Someone else paid his passage and ship manifest
list his as Christopher Carwick. Ship came from London to Maryland. Wife,
Onera arrived a year later from scotland. He was the second Carmack to come
to america so his children hae be assumed to be his and not other carmack. I
have other information along with a copy of willof Cornelius b 1681.

Have been trying to establish lineage for Cornelius Carmack, Sr. for DAR.
Have already established lineage for CC Jr. but they want some proof that CC
Sr. is actually the father of CC Jr. A very nice man named Thom who
provides some lookup service found the following in History of Overton
County Tennessee, Vol. 1, Overton County History Book Committee, P 197 F42.
"John Carmack came to America in 1640 from Dublin, Ireland. His son
Cornelius Carmack (1661 - 1749) and wife Guin had 6 children: John, Mary
Corem, Catherine Richards, William, Marie and Elizabeth Evans...."
"William Carmack (1717-1776) married Jane Evans (b1700). They had eight
children: Sarah, Cornelius, William, Evan, John C. , Nathan, Levi and
Aquilla, all born in Frederick County, MD. Cornelius Married Margery about
1758 in Maryland. They had 10 children, first 2 born in Maryland, other 8
born in various TN counties. Cornelius, William, Joseph, Jane Sarah, Jesse
C. Margery, John, Elizabeth and Susannah. Cornelius settled in Overton Co.
TN about 1806 and lived near Okalona and is buried near Okalona Cemetery."
I have the information about the burial of both Cornelius Sr. & Jr. and
their Rev. War service Memorial stones. Does anyone have the connection
between John who came to America in 1640 and Cornelius (1681-1749) Previous
information I have shows Christopher as the father of Cornelius (1681-1749).
Also is there any way to get a copy of Overton County Tennessee??
