Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I saw you were looking for information on Martin and Cassie carmack in Harlan county Kentucky. They were my grandparents. My father is elmer carmack.

I believe Martha Carmack & William Porter are my 4x great-grandparents. Martha b. circa 1765 in either PA or VA; William born circa 1760 in either PA or VA. They married 1782 In Burke County, North Carolina. They had the following children:
William, John R.,, Alexander, WilliaM., David, Thomas.
Any and all information on Martha, William and their children would be greatly appreciated.

The Carmack DNA Project has been kicked off and we have enough volunteers to
create a group project. Family Tree DNA, Inc.(FTDNA)was chosen to perform
the genealogical DNA testing and analysis. This now means that anyone else
who wants to join us and participate can do so at the group rate. We still
need more participants, we need people from ALL Carmack lines (even if you
100% sure of the lineage).
Family Tree DNA has incorporated their the Native American DNA tests into
the Y DNA test and the mtDNA test. These tests
will determine if a direct male line, for Y DNA, or a direct female line,
for the mtDNA test, has Native American ancestry.
This should also be of interest to many of the Carmacks out their who
suspect Indian ancestry. So come on and signup to participate in the
