I have a copy of the 1860, Beat 1, Natasulga P.O., Tallapoosa County, Al,
peg. (993x688x256) that was sent to me by a friend, that includes John
Carmack, 40, Nancy Edwards Carmack, 33, their children, Elizabeth J, 15, John
W. 14, Arterbury, 12, James F, 10, Mary, 8, Henry T. 6, Matthew J, 5, and
David E 2.
John is listed as a farmer with approximately 800 acres from North Carolina.
Nancy is listed as being born in Alabama.
In the 1850, Tallapoosa County, Alabama census (955x687x256, TS20, shows
John Carmack, , 30, Nancy 22, Elizabeth 5, John W. 4, Arthur B. is 2,.
John is listed as a farmer with the 800 acres from North Carolina, Nancy is
listed as being from Georgia.
my copies do not show the top of the page so I am unable to decipher any of
the other information.
I have another one, that I believe is from Arkansas, I will have to check
that shows a Bury Carmack 27, wife Mary 22, son Gussie, 8, the next name
looks like David 6, also a son, Albert, son 4, Oscar, son 2, and Minnie 9
2/12, but has something written after her name that I cannot read. He is a
farmer, listed as being from Alabama, and that his parents are from Alabama.
He lives next door to John Carmack, Sue A. Baker Carmack, Daughter Sue,
Daughter Nancy, daughter Pencie J, or Vincie, and David Herbert. (These are
my great grandparents. On this one John is listed as a farmer from Alabama,
and that his parents are from Alabama.
I have one of a Levi Carmack, Penalope, his wife, Samuel Theresa, Olivia,
George, Kardy , living next door to a Caroline Carmack in Craven County, NC
1850
The website for the 1860 census is:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~cenfiles/al/tallapoosa/1860/pg00001.txt
Hope this helps some. They are listed on page 13 of 14 when I printed it
out.
I will try to dig out the other ones that I have for Arkansas.
Geraldean T. Bond.
Would anyone know if Bury Carmike is the same person as Asberry Carmack, since they both lived in the same area of Alabama? Also, if they are the same person, is John Carmack of Tallapoosa Co., AL his father?
Sonnie & Lois
Does anyone have info on the Bury Carmike in the 1880 census of Madison or Jackson Co AL? I would like to confirm my info and possibly find out when Bury died. Also what became of his wife and children?
All help appreciated,
Sonnie & Lois
I would like more info on above.
I have info on Furney and Permelia (Welsh) Carmack but not available
right now. When I am back at my regular station I can send it if you
haven't received it from others by then.
I was thrilled to get this info as I have been searching for them for
years.

I'm not sure if this is the same Sarah Amanda but it may be a lead (she was born 1832 in AL). I received this information a few years ago from Karen Carmack Stadler.
Family Tree Maker has a file "Descendants of Robert McCormick" which is the source of most of the information listed below:
William Carmack, b. 1800 in Virginia, married Jane McCormick who was b. in 1807 in Abingdon, Wythe Co, VA to William J. and Nancy (Hendricks) McCormick. William died after 1862 in Rock Point, Jackson Co, TN. Jane died after 1860 in Jackson Co, TN.
Children: Nancy b. 1824 in Alabama; Alexander b. 1830 in Overton Co, TN; Amanda b. 1832 Overton Co; Tench "Josh" b. 1835 in Jackson Co, AL; William Jr. b. 1837 in Jackson Co, AL; Letta b. 1840 in Jackson Co, AL; Mary Catherine b. 1848 in Overton Co; Sarah b. 1852 in Overton Co; and Thesaser b. 1858 in Jackson Co, TN.
Nancy married Benson Porter Christian who was born Dec. 27, 1822 the son of George & Elizabeth (McCormick) Christian. She died in August, 1911. She had two sons, Juan Carmack Christian an Alexander Carmack Christian. Maybe she had the boys before marrying Benson and he later adopted them?

Kim,
Your subject line provides information that possibly causes confusion, as I'm not sure who you really mean. There is an Abraham Carmack born 06 February 1860 who is the son of Enoch Carmack who is the son of Levi Carmack (who you mentioned in the subject line). However, Levi also had a son named Abraham born 22 October 1826.
I suspect you really mean Abraham, son of Levi though but had the date associated with the grandson of Levi.
My notes indicated that Abraham lived in Owsley Co., Ky. on Sturgeon Creek. Abraham Carmack served in the Union Army. He married. (2) Malissa Flinch & (3) Celia Roberts.
I do not have the census you reference or further information on Abraham (son of Levi) & Alcy.

Abraham Carmack was still living at the time of the 1910 Owsley Co, KY census in the household of his son and daughter-in-law Isaac and Rhoda (Thomas) Carmack. He was listed as age 84, b. VA-VA-VA. I have his birth date as 22 October 1826, and death as 16 May 1910, but I have no real documentation for those dates. I show 12 children: Lucy Ann, Isaac, Elizabeth, Sarah Margaret, Easter, Martha, Alexander V., William H., Henry C., Robert S., Ezekiel M., and Susan. (Corrections/additions are welcome.)
