Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Agnes, I have a couple of questions:
What was Timothy C's, and Mary Catherine's birth date?
Also you list John Wesleys 9th child as David H. Ruseau. Do you know why he
has a different last name?
thanks,

Dr. Charles Peckham
869 N. St. Rt. 741
Lebanon, Ohio 45036
He is compiling a book about Carmacks. If anyone would like their Carmack
data in his book, he would love to include it. He needs all data by the end
of this month. Hopes to have it published by late Spring.
Dr. Peckham is a GG grandson of the Alaska Gold Rush Carmack. (think that is
the correct # of G's).
I hope by including my data from my William Frank Carmack of West Tennessee, I
will be able to connect to earlier Carmacks.
Thanks!

Hi, Norm,
I tried to insert my comments into the body of your text below. Maybe there
is an easier way to make comments but I haven't thought of it. I put my
comments into square brackets, e.g.[ ]. My information only goes back to
John Wesley Carmack. I do not have any information on his wife or
children/descendants. In addition, all the dates and information I included
in Brackets below is what i call "original" information. By that I mean
someone gave it to me and I have not verified it. Maybe it will give you a
start towards verifying it though.
If you do verify any of it I'd appreciate you letting me know.
Hope this helps.

What a great idea!
I will start it off with a brief of my 'tree', and see what develops from
that:
Starting with the 'root' of our roots, as we know him...Cornelius I of
1681,
it is as follows:
Cornelius I -> William B. -> Cornelius II
b. 1681 in Ireland b.1716 Frederick Co MD b. 1736
Frederick Co MD d. 1749 d.1776 Frederick Co MD
d. 1824 Overton Co MD
m. Guien(er) Corem m.1732 Jane McDaniel m. 1756 Jane Evans
Cornelius III => John Wesley -> John Wilson
b. 1757 Fred. Co MD b. 1803 Overton Co MD b. 1833
McDonough Co IL
d. ??? d. 1885 Stephenville TX d. 1912 Comanche TX
m. Lettice(Lettia) UNK m. Susan Carr m. Nancy Jane
Damron
Joseph Mark -> Robert Jay -> Norman Alonzo
(that's ME!)
b. 1862 Fannin Co TX b. 1894 Comanche TX b. 1935
Eastland, TX
d. 1936 Rochester TX d. 1967 Comanche TX d. Still Going
STRONG!
m. Lena Caroline McNutt m. Cora Ellen Byrd m. Josephine
Helen Browne
So lets see how you all link into this little chain.....Gonna be fun!!!
See y'all!

Agree with census information. I do not have anything on an 1852 Land

(Deed K, page 157
Washington Co, TX)
>Jesse Carmack, born ca. 1795 possible Washington Co., VA,
The 1860 Census says he was 63 yrs old, thus born 1797
>died probably 1868 Washington CO, Texas,
Jesse moved from Washington Co, TX in 1866 to Burleson Co, TX and died there
in 1868. I have a copy of the deed for the property in Burleson Co TX and
probate records indicate he died in 1868.
>Married Margaret, born ca. 1803 TN, died 1861 Washington, TX,
I do not have a record for her death (can you provide ?), I know she died
before 1863 when Jesse
remarried to Mary Ann Boyd.

I have seen the marriage record for a Martha J. Carmack to Levi J. Mills on
14 Nov 1860, I assumed this was one of Jesse's daughters as she was married
in the same county.
How did you link Elizabeth born ca. 1834 (how did you establish the year?)
born Bledsoe TN, married 9 July 1856 Washington TX to John Alcorn with
Jesse? I saw a marriage record for this marriage but I had written the date
as Jan vice July.
What is the relation of Nova McCann, Odessa, TX to the Carmacks? Is she
from the Tennesse Carmack line? It'd be nice to track down someone from
Jesse's first marriage.

Dale,
My name is Marsha Carmack Owen. I just happened to email Agnes Jones
yesterday after about 8 months of not hearing from her and she told me of this
list. I am on several of my surname lists and just this weekend was wishing
that there was a Carmack one. Thank you!!!!! I am just so excited. I have
had about 3 good hits on my other lists, so looking forward to reading about
Carmacks here.
A little later this morning, I will send my g grandfather's family group
sheet or I will attempt to do so.
His name is William Frank Carmack. Our Carmacks were in West Tennessee
from 1850 on. Many descendants of this family are still there, just outside
of Ripley Tennessee in Lauderdale county. I believe the father of William
Frank Carmack to be S. B. Carmack, born in N. C. who was in Hardeman County,
TN on the 1860 census and in Gibson county on the 1870 census. After 1870, S.
B. and wife and some of the family moved to the Little Rock, AR. area.
I believe that my William Frank Carmack was their son and that he stayed
in Tennessee and married Demetra Avery. There were Averys living a couple of
households away from S. B. and his family in Gibson county. I don't have
PROOF but it seems like this is how it is.
I got William Frank Carmack's certificate of death notice from Vital
records and was so disappointed that his father's name was not on it. That
could have sewn it up for me.
Ok, I am being long winded. Just wanted to say Hi and thanks for the
list.
Marsha Carmack Owen

Since the list is small and subscribers are sigining on every day I have
been trying to think of ways to spark conversations until things get going
naturally. Would anyone be interested in starting to submit mini family
group sheets? Not groups of families but a single family. That way we
could all compare what we have for dates and information and share with the
group. If anyone is interested let me know and feel free to start the
process.

I extracted the following emails from the Roots-L list and thought many of
you might be interested. There is always discussion on whether these books
are what they are advertised to be. Most people expect, and rightly so from
the advertising, these books to provide linked family information when
usually all it contains are names from a phone book. This is not totally
invaluable but not what people normally expect, especially for the cost of
that book.
In reading the response to the query below I discovered a new Genealogy Web
site that might be worth checking out. http://genealogy.miningco.com/

I am a descendant of Jesse Ann Carmack & Mary (Polly) Boyd Ferral Carmack In Washington Co. Tx. Most researchers contend that Jesse Ann Carmack of Tx. Is the son of Jesse C. Carmack & Ann Black of Tn--- they did have a son named Jesse born abt. 1820 however a 1860 census in Washington Co. Tx. listed Jesse born in 1797. Ann Black was 4 yrs old at that time. The Jesse in Tx.Is probally the son of Jesse's brother John who settled in Bledsoe Co. Tn. I was in Bledsoe Co Tn. a few days ago, only to find that all records, except deeds, were destoyed when the Court House burned down. I need info. on John & Jesse of Bledsoe Co. Tn. Any info. on these two Carmacks would be appreciated. TIA Ccarmack(a)peganet.com

won't be available for 2 or 3 years because they have just found them. Love
Dad

Were you referring to the statement about Scottish wives not taking their
hisbands last name or the very very last line which says ? Black ?

At last I'm getting around to reposting my line. They're mostly Sussex
County, New Jersey, BLACKs. I haven't met anyone yet from the list who
has any connections to it. I'd really be interested in any of the
following lines, especially:
BLACK, MCCONNELL, LOSAW, SPARGO, BRIANT from New Jersey.
Also, there is some controversy in the family as to whether Hugh Black
was actually the father of Jonathan and David Black. Hugh Black arrived
with his wife Jannet Brown from Scotland in 1775 (Scottish wives did not
generally take their husbands' names).
