Hi Ian,
Jessica Bell wasnt married to James of Guileburn. Notes from the St Mungo
OPR:
17th April 1769 - Birth of John natural son to Jessica Bell, late of
Breckonhill and according to her confession, James Carruthers in Guileburn,
but acknowledged some time later.
As for the Mary Carlyles, you might want to ask Charles Houston who has a
site on the internet about that lot. I also queried that lot some time ago.
I note that the children of the first Mary Carlyle married to James born at
St Mungo 1783 died on 9th February 1823 but their children were born up to
1833(?)
Best wishes
Gary Carruthers
Regards

Morning all
Looking to connect with anyone researching the following Dumfriesshire
CARLYLE's
James CARRUTHERS of GUILLYBURN 1748-1824 married Mary CARLYLE & Jessica
BELL.
They had a son William x Mary CALVERT
& James 1783 - 1864 x Mary CARLYLE born 1790 St Mungo & died
Brocklerig 1823
he also married another Mary CARLYLE born 1785 died Townhead St
Mungo 1845
Just seems too coincidental he married two different Mary CARLYLE's as
well as having a mother who was a Mary CARLYLE?
Hoping someone else is able to educate me on this branch
thanks
