Didn't make any new connections this year but in August was able to see the
gravestones of Asa Carlton and his wife Dorcas Perry Carlton in Proctorsville, VT.
From everything I had I knew where the cemetery was located but the path up the steep,
steep hill has been blocked by on of the land owners along the road with about 15 rusting
vehicles. Fortunately a neighbor down the street let my husband and I climb the hill
behind his house and send us in the direction of the cemetery. After going through
thicket with briars we came to the cemetery which had been mowed recently to our
amazement. Don't know how they got there,
Now I would like to know who had the original stones replaced as the ones there are
relatively new. Also does anyone know why there is a road in Proctorsville called
"Carlton Road"?
Don't give up on trying to find something. I had been to this area in May and people
I talked with didn't even know about the cemetery. With research on the Net I was
able to find a survey of the City Cemetery and that lead me to the correct sight.
Happy New Year!!!
