Did James leave Elizabeth Cogburn, return to Itawamba Co, MS, marry Jane,
live with her just a few months then return to TX and take up his life with
Elizabeth? Our great-grandmother, Jane is found on 1860 Itawamba Co. MS using
the name HARDIN.
Haven’t been able to find James B. Carlton after 1860 census.
1870 Census , wife Elizabeth and children, Martha b. 1859 and William b.
1862 are living with Elizabeth’s parents, Jackson & Martha Ann (Grace) Cogburn
in Newton Co., TX.
1880 Census, can’t find James B. or Elizabeth Carlton. Living with Jackson &
Martha Cogburn in Newton Co., TX are grandchildren, Trojan Carlton age 17
(b. 1863) and Emma Carlton age 15 (b. 1865).
Is Trojan, William b. ca 1862 ? Is Emma, Martha M. b. 1859 ?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
