Windy,
Both Jeannine and I were raised in Lansing, MI and are from the Class of 1950
& 1951 of J. W. Sexton High School. We were back there for my 50th H. S.
reunion
in September.
I have a great deal on the Carlton family from Dexter to date, but nothing
from Dexter back in time to England. If you can be of any help with the
family along with what I have we could get into some good genealogy.
Margaret Jeannine (Carlton) Beard, my wife, and the second great
granddaughter to Dexter Carlton. She has a brother living in Lansing, MI
named Richard (Dick) Carlton
and he is in the phone book. He may have left for Florida for the winter, not
sure?
You say that Dexter came to Michigan with his parents in 1825, who were they,
names if you could and if you know, where were they born/married/death?
Below is what we have on the place where a lot of the Carlton's are interred.

Counter - Pray Cemetery, Windsor Twp., Eaton Co., MI. The original land for
this cemetery was given by John Courter out of his purchase of 160 acres in
1873 from the government.
Nathan H. Pray, who came to Windsor Township in 1837, gave part of the land.
The cemetery is located in section 28 on the south side of Vermontville
Highway at the intersection of Pares Road.
