Another one bites the dust:
THE SINGLE-ENGINE Piper Saratoga was flown by the 38-year-old Kennedy, who
got his pilot's license only a year ago, and was carrying his wife, Carolyn
Bessette Kennedy, and Lauren Bessette, her elder sister, according to
officials and a family spokesman. Reports differed on whether a fourth
passenger was aboard the plane. The party was en route to the wedding of
John F. Kennedy Jr.'s cousin Rory, the youngest daughter of the late Sen.
Robert F. Kennedy.
The six-seat plane took off on Friday night from the Essex County
Airport in Fairfield, N.J., on Friday at 8:38 p.m. and had been expected in
Martha's Vineyard about 10 p.m., the Coast Guard said.
At Philbin Beach in Aquinnah - the portion of Martha's Vineyard
popularly known as Gay Head - "some luggage," a wheel, a headrest and a
strut had washed up, said Coast Guard Lt. Craig Jaramillo.
