Message Board Post:
I am seeking any information about my great-grandparents.
My mother has told me that my great-grandmother, Mary "Elizabeth" Fanthorpe
had been engaged to another man when she fell in love and eloped with Carl Carlson (my
mother says that he originally from Sweden and was the gardener for the Fanthorpe family
who lived in Victoria, BC Canada).
I have found the marriage registration: They were married in Vancouver, BC (registered
Nov 1 1920). Elizabeth has her name mispelled as "Fauthorpe", perhaps on
purpose.
Elizabeth gave birth to my Grandmother, Frances Linea Carlson around 1921/22. In
1928, Elizabeth died, aged 33 years. Carl Carlson then may or may not have married (I
can't find a record and my mother can't remember if they were officially married)a
Scottish woman(remembered only by the name "Peggy")who tended to Frances.
Carl Carlson was said to have travelled to North America from Sweden with his brother
(I don't have a name and I don't have any information on his whereabouts).
I know its not much to go on, but I'm hoping someone out there might know where I
might find more information.
Regards,
Gia
