Carl J.W. Carlson, 84, Route 4, died Sunday, June 6, 1976 at Memorial Community Hospital
after an illness.
He was born in Sweden October 12, 1891 to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nielsson. He came to the
United States in 1911 from Sweden and settled in the Rockford area where he was employed
as a carpenter until his retirement.
Carlson was a member of the Rochelle and Rockford Moose Lodge and was a 50 year member of
the Rockford Lodge. He was also a member of the Rockford Carpenters Union and the
Edgerton American Legion Post. Mr Carlson came to the Edgerton area in 1954 from Rockford
and settled in Newville.
His survivors include one brother and three sisters in Sweden and several nieces and
nephews including Mrs. Walter Carlson, Janesville' Mrs. Ruth Bulthaus and Mrs. Beverly
McBride of Rockford.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 9 at the Ellingson-Nygaard Funeral Home with
the Reverend James Irving of the Edgerton Congregational United Church of Christ
officiating.
The music was provided by Mrs. Neil Geske.
Pallbearers were Douglas Burdick, Gillis Blank, Gustave Johnson, and William Rousch.
Burial was in Fassett Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were by the Ellington-Nygaard Funeral Home.
