Rose M. Carlson
1914-2004
Rose Mae Carlson, 90, of Cheyenne died Oct. 22 at Mountain Towers Healthcare.
She was born March 12, 1914, in Lincensering, Penn., and lived here for the last 41
years.
She was the first to complete her Certified Nurse Assistant certification in geriatrics,
which was a pilot program that was the first of its kind in the USA at Mountain Towers.
She was a caregiver most of her life and was a senior citizen companion with the Retired
Senior Volunteer Program.
Mrs. Carlson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Joan Layhue of
Cheyenne; a sister, Ruth Augustine of Williston, S.C.; five grandchildren, Victoria
Anderson of Cheyenne, Dani Metcalfe and Eddie of Cheyenne, Linda and Jerald Leil of
Cheyenne, Mark Layhue and companion Peggy Foust of Cheyenne, and Shawn Layhue
and Patty of Casper; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lena Layhue, and numerous
brothers and sisters.
Private family services will be held.
Public viewing will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. today at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel
of the Chimes.
