Hi Michelle -
You have it basically right. There are 3 "extra" letters in the Swedish
alphabet: ö, ä and å. These sometimes get scrambled in the e-mails, but should be fine
when viewed on the message board (at least they look right on my end). One or two details
I left out of my previous post. "län" is usually translated as county, but
these are not counties in the American sense. The län is the largest administrative
subdivision in Sweden, so it is more like an American state. Marbäck and Hasslösa are
parishes, which is where most of the records useful for genealogy were kept. Göteborgs
Kristine and Göteborgs Oskar Fredrik are parishes in the city of Göteborg, Sweden's
second-large
If you have any other questions about these records, please ask me. I know there are some
Swedish words that are untranslated on the English version of the CD, so if you are unsure
about any of these, just ask.
