Jane Elder Carlson, 64, died suddenly in Fairfax, VA on October 16, 2003. Born in
Albuquerque she lived in Annandale, VA for the last 21 years where she was a long-standing
member of Fairfax Presbyterian Church, serving for many years as the Clerk of Session, an
elder, a trustee and church school teacher. She was also an active member of the Stone
Haven Civic Association. Jane held the position of Director of Information Systems for the
Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society where she worked for 19 years before retiring earlier in
2003. Jane attended the University of New Mexico, where she was a member of Alpha Chi
Omega Sorority and met her former husband, RADM William C. Carlson USN (ret.). She was
also an accomplished dancer, working with both the Fishback and Mike Haley dance studios.
She is survived by two sons, David Carlson of Gulfport, MS and CDR Scott Carlson and wife,
Diana of Pocomoke City, Maryland; one daughter, Jennifer Burns and husband, Gene of
Annandale, VA; two b!
rothers, Bill and wife, Beulah and Jack and wife, Judy of Albuquerque; one sister, Ann
Elder also of Albuquerque; four beloved grandchildren, Abigail, Matthew, Andrew and Ryan;
and many devoted relatives and countless friends.
